No other discernible or objectionable faults on book or jacket such as marks or writing within, stains, tears, chips, or other damage that would diminish its appearance. Condition of book and jacket consistent with being read. Jacket is clean but worn it has wear with paper loss at all four corners, short tears on the bottom edge of the front panel and at the heel of the spine, and tears, chips and paper loss at the head of the spine (see photo) there are strips of scotch tape on the reverse side at the head and heel of the spine as well as at the top front and bottom rear corners. Pages are tight and clean with no marks of any sort. Paper is very mildly toned and is very flexible. The interior is completely free of writing, stray marks, stains of any sort and page damage of any type. The top edge has several lines and dots of brownish discoloration-the worst penetrates about 1/2" into the paper but does not affect the text at all. This book has been read and is in decent condition: it has a significant lean, but is very clean, free of corner bumps and edge dings with bumped and worn spine ends that have no tears spine has a very prominent vertical crease hinges are strong and not damaged in any fashion. Dark gray boards with darker gray quarter binding, gilt lettering on the spine and author's signature in gilt near the bottom of the front board all lettering is worn but readable. A stated "Book Club Edition" with no edition or print number, no price and no ISBN number listed.
